GIANT HOGWEED DISCOVERED IN A HOME GARDEN - June 2018

Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) was recently discovered in a home garden in Clarke County, Virginia. Giant hogweed is listed in Virginia as a Tier 1 Noxious Weed. However, the plants found in the home garden were intentionally planted long ago. In Virginia, the species has NOT been found as a naturalized species spreading across the landscape.
